Brace yourself for a night of hard-hitting entertainment as Algren authors Mary Wisniewski and Richard Bales consider the criminal case of Rubin "Hurricane" Carter, who was twice convicted for a 1966 triple murder in Paterson, New Jersey. Wisnewski will discuss Algren's last novel, The Devil's Stocking, based on the case, while Bales describes the 1975 benefit concert where Bob Dylan sang his song, "Hurricane." Algren Museum co-founder Sue Rutsen will discuss influential figures who made The Hurricane a cause célèbre. Music by Chicago musician Zosia Holden

This event will be held Friday, August 22 at 7:00 pm at the Marshall J. Gardner Center for the Arts, 540 South Lake Street. The cost is $20 at the door. Beer and wine will be available for sale.
